Breakwater Landing is one of the most popular beaches in town and has an ample parking area. Rocky. Lots of pools at low tide. Still fair amount of beach at high tide. Funny seeing boats just sitting on sand. Families and older people. Good-sized parking. Not too crowded. Very calm. Can walk out REALLY far at low tide. A lot more to look at. "Pretty" potties. Right off parking. No attendant. Bike rack. |

The water on the bay side of Cape Cod is warmer than the ocean side and has less surf, making it a favorite destination for the under-7 set. Paines Creek Beach in Brewster is one of those gems that seems to have been built for the pail-and-shovel crowd, who lounge in the tidal pools or scramble to find fiddler and horseshoe crabs. Plan to be there at high tide, or you may have to walk a mile from the parking lot to get to water's edge. |
