One of the most popular beaches in Wellfleet. Water temp in the high 50s to low 60s in the summer. Large number of people in their late teens, twenties and thirties, with a smaller number of families and older adults in the mix. The steep dune path. Lifeguards. Restrooms. Very big beach. Windy. Some waves. Attendants on duty. Volleyball. Scary dune down to beach. Rope to hold on to. Limited disabled access. Two options for parking.

Cahoon Hollow Beach features dramatic landscape accentuated with massive dunes on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Two long, steep paths lead down a slightly eroded 75-foot dune from the sand parking lot to the beach. The steep dune path tends to discourage families with younger children and older adults. Cahoon Hollow is a popular beach for young adults due to The Wellfleet Beachcomber, a popular seaside bar and restaurant located in the beach parking lot. Neither lot is paved.

Tips:

It is highly recommended that you arrive early to this beach, especially on weekends, as the lots usually fill by late morning.
