Huge beach. Pebbly sand, but soft. Lots of room. Not crowded. Small waves. Nice view. Short walk. Stairs down. Limited disabled access. Large parking area. Attendant on duty. All ages. Very nice.
Sandy Neck beach is a residents-only for both Barnstable and Sandwich residents. This large and long beach is very popular, especially for its off-road vehicle (ORV) trails. ORV permits are available at Sandy Neck gatehouse. There's plenty of room for campers and sunbathers, and at night, campfires can be a great pleasure. Watch for pebbly sand, though.
ORVs will be inspected for required equipment. For more information, visit the Barnstable Web site. Basic ORV info: Off Road Vehicle (ORV) permits Available at Sandy Neck gatehouse Mon-Sun 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Barnstable resident = $85, Sandwich resident = $145, Non-resident = $160
